10 Foods you should never keep in the fridge!

Some things lose their flavour and texture, and though many are protected by low temperature, others can be nutritionally degraded.

1 ONIONS
Humidity in your fridge will spoil their taste and speed up rotting. It is better to keep them in a dry, cool place, but not too close to potatoes to avoid tainting.

2 COFFEE
Many people think the fridge is a good place to keep their coffee beans. Wrong!
They will quickly lose flavour and may become spoiled. Far better to keep larger quantities in the freeze, pack in airtight containers. Take out what you need for a week and keep in a dry place out of direct sun.

3 OLIVE OIL
Never, never, never. It will form solid fats and will not pour from the bottle.

4 BASIL
This is a fragile plant which will wilt in seconds in the fridge absorb other flavours in the cabinet and soon turn black and have all the essential oils destroyed. For best results keep it in a glass of water in a cool, dark place.

5 HONEY
Because honey has its own natural preservatives, why put it in the fridge as, just like olive oil, it will just go hard and you may destroy some of the healing substances.

6 GARLIC
Like onions, you must not put it in the fridge. It will germinate go bitter and in the end, rot. The immensely potent essential oils may be degraded.

7 BREAD
I strongly advise against this idea that so many people think a good one. It will never stay crusty and the damp conditions encourage mould to form.

8 AVOCADO
The cold will slow down ripening and destroy the flavour.

9 POTATOES
A bad idea as the flesh will become granular and worse, the starches will start turning into sugars. They may also lose some of their vitamin C

10 TOMATOES
Please don’t put them in the cold. They lose all their flavour and become floury
